While much of the blame lies with Gordon Gee, equal blame lies at the feet of our WV Legislature and Governor for not properly funding WVU over the years. They have not kept up with rising inflation, thereby tuition becomes too much for most West Virginia students, who consequently give up the dream of going to college.

Complete agree. However, he was in charge- he’s no different than the coal barons of a century ago who extracted their wealth and left only a scarred landscape and poverty behind.

A good leader would have convinced the legislator. I remember when the legislature wanted to combine WVU, Marshall and the WV osteopathic school into one institution to save a few bucks. Bob D'Allesandri drove to Charleston and gave a passionate speech that got them to not do it.

Very nicely addresses the need for accountability. The value of language training is priceless. For a university to cut languages I’d a travesty that sets every student behind counterparts from other countries.

Well stated. You echo my sentiments. Celebrity college presidents like Gee and Lee Bollinger at Columbia enriched themselves at the expense of future students. They are no different than those in the finance industry that brought on meltdowns of mortgage and banks. :(

The only silver lining is that the next president will not be blamed for Gee's malfeasance.
